WHAT'S FOR DINNER: The perfect steak, cooking tips from Phil Clark, Valentine's Day recipes, Open Farms day out

This week on What’s For Dinner? we are sharing the perfect steak recipe for the weekend, the best tips for cooking the steak from Beef + Lamb Ambassador Chef Phil Clark, recipes to make Valentine's Day special and an invitation to Open Farms Day on March 1.

Barbecued steak that's perfect for the weekend

This is a great recipe to try on the BBQ this weekend. What separates it from your traditional steak recipe is the smoky Baba Ghanoush... it's a definite winner. Just cook the steaks, prepare all the elements and allow everyone to assemble their meals themselves - sorted!

Cooking tip: Scotch fillet steaks vary in size, so choose 4 of a similar size with a thickness of about 2.5cm Click here for our Steak with Baba Ghanoush recipe.

Steak cooking tips from Phil Clark

It's only one week to the most romantic day of the year! If you are planning to prepare a dinner for two at home, why not go the extra mile with a delicious lamb steak with mushrooms, or even a roasted rib eye? Open Farms day out

Farmers all over New Zealand are opening their gates to a free day out on Sunday, March 1. Kiwi families are invited to experience farm-life and see where their food comes from.

“A lot of people want to feel closer to the land, to better understand how our food is grown and to meet the people who grow it. Open Farms is about supporting farmers to share those experiences with urban Kiwis," says Open Farms founder Daniel Eb.

You can meet the animals on a sheep & beef farm, tour regenerating bush on a dairy farm, learn how to compost on a permaculture plot or simply enjoy a picnic on a real Kiwi farm. Click here to visit the Open Farms website.
