Our Best St. Patrick’s Day Recipes

Here are the recipes you’ll need, whether you’re off to a parade, a party, or simply staying at home this Tuesday.

Corned Beef

Corned beef and cabbage is classic St. Patrick’s Day fare. The meat is really just brisket that’s been cured in salt and spices, then braised until tender. As it’s now too late to “corn” your own beef (this would take up to 5 days of brining), pick up a brined, uncooked corned beef, and cook it in a saucepan, a slow cooker, or in the oven. Leftover corned beef is great in a Reuben, Irish-style tacos, or in red flannel hash.

Stews and Casseroles

The Irish love their stews and casseroles, a comforting one-pot staple that features meat cooked low and slow until it is ultra-tender. Mutton was originally used for stews in Ireland, but nowadays, lamb is the meat of choice. Potatoes, onions and sometimes carrots round out the dish.
