WHAT'S FOR DINNER: National Lamb Day 2020, incredible shanks, lamb recipes, history, Kiwi moments, marinades

This week on What’s For Dinner? we are celebrating National Lamb Day 2020 with red wine & minty lamb shanks, a delicious selection of our best lamb recipes, a brief history of New Zeland lamb, Chef Norka's first Kiwi moment and 10 marinades.

These lamb shanks are just incredible

Our red wine & minty lamb shanks are slowly cooked in a delicious sauce until they fall apart. The combination of red wine, whole grain mustard, fresh mint and honey creates a sauce with a wonderful depth of flavour. We also added baby carrots to the slow cooker which caramelised beautifully in the sauce. Serve these delicious shanks on a kumara and potato mash and enjoy!

Cooking tips: Use a smooth red wine like a merlot or pinot noir. We put our potato and kumara mash through the food processor to give it a smooth puree consistency.

Lamb recipes worth celebrating

If you're looking for a roast, curry, slow-cooker dish, barbecue or soup, there is a recipe for it in our special selection of New Zealand lamb recipes. Cutlets, shanks, kebabs and more - take your pick and cook up your old favourite or an enticing new recipe for National Lamb Day this Sunday.
